Our Story

KC PAWS was founded in 2007 with one simple belief: every dog deserves a chance.

What began as a small rescue has grown into one of the Kansas City area's leading no-kill canine organizations, providing rescue, rehabilitation, adoption, foster, and community support services. We specialize in giving second chances to dogs that are often overlooked because of their breed, age, medical needs, or difficult pasts—proving that with patience, compassion, and the right support, every dog has the potential to thrive.

Our commitment doesn't end when a dog leaves our care. We provide ongoing support to adopters and foster families, invest in training and enrichment, and work alongside other rescues, shelters, veterinarians, and community partners because we believe collaboration saves more lives than competition ever could.

Beyond rescue, KC PAWS is proud to serve as a regional pet resource hub through our partnership with Greater Good Charities, helping distribute food and lifesaving supplies to animal welfare organizations and community programs throughout the Midwest.

Since our founding, we have remained true to the promise that defines us: we never euthanize for space. Every decision we make is guided by one question—what gives this dog the greatest opportunity for a happy, healthy life?

Today, as we expand into our new Raytown campus, we're building more than a larger facility. We're creating a place where more dogs can heal, more families can find lifelong companions, and more lives can be changed—one rescue at a time.
